Understanding refugee experience

This session provides an overview of the refugee experience, the impact of trauma and the process of migrating to Australia.  The workshop also offers useful and practical tools for anyone assisting or supporting people from a refugee background.

Date: Friday October 26

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm

Venue: Companion House, 41 Templeton St, Cook Community Hub.

Cost: Free: Training materials and morning tea provided

Working with young people from a refugee background

This session helps participants understand the unique experiences of young people from refugee backgrounds. It focuses on useful cross cultural skills and includes positive strategies for working with young people and their families, particularly ways to better support young people recovering from trauma.

This interactive workshop is suitable for youth workers, family support workers, volunteers and anyone working with young people.
