The Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide 

The Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide can be used by doctors, nurses and other primary care providers to inform on-arrival and ongoing health care for people from refugee backgrounds, including people seeking asylum.

The Australian Immunisation Handbook

The Australian Immunisation Handbook provides clinical guidelines for healthcare professionals and others about using vaccines safely and effectively.

ACT Health immunisation information for refugees and humanitarian entrants

Refugee or humanitarian entrants to Australia may not be fully immunised and up-to-date according to the Australian National Immunisation Program (NIP). Some refugees may have received immunisations overseas but do not have documentation of these vaccinations. Written records are considered reliable evidence of vaccination status and in the absence of written immunisation documentation a full catch-up immunisation schedule is recommended.

Refugees and humanitarian entrants are eligible for some free vaccines under the NIP.

Use of the Translation and Interpreting Service: TIS National

The Free Interpreting Service aims to provide equitable access to key services for people with limited or no English language proficiency. TIS National delivers the Free Interpreting Service on behalf of the Australian Government. Using the Free Interpreting Service is easy and convenient. It is quick and simple for service providers to register and they can be connected to a phone interpreter within minutes.

Made for Australian health practitioners and people who work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, the site provides quick access to a wealth of reliable resources. Resources are regulalry reviewed for quality and accuracy.

NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service

The NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS) is a state-wide health service hosted by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). MHCS was established to strengthen the capacity of health services and programs to effectively and appropriately communicate with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and coordinate the provision of multilingual health information.
